Z.E.R.O. Sachet

Date : March 2024 - July 2024 | Place : Pobè, Plateau

The Z.E.R.O Sachet (Zero Emission of Organic Plastic Residue) project is an initiative led by the NGO CACD in partnership with Peace Corps to combat the unsanitary conditions caused by the excessive use of single-use plastic bags. Through awareness-raising, training, creative recycling, and community mobilization, this project aims to:

  • Reduce the incidence of environmentally related diseases, such as cholera and malaria

  • Create green jobs by transforming waste into art objects

  • Promote a new culture of waste management in schools, markets, health centers, and other public services

With the support of institutional and community partners, Z.E.R.O Sachet positions itself as a lever for social, ecological, and economic transformation in the commune of Pobè.

Results

  • A significant reduction in visible plastic waste in public places in Pobè

  • Installation of trash bins in 10 public places

  • Direct awareness raising among at least 1,000 people, mainly women

  • Creation of three environmental clubs in collèges

  • Organization of a green march to collect waste in the center of Pobè

  • Training of local stakeholders on the principles of the circular economy
